as many of you know, my now forever 15-year old sister passed away very unexpectedly last year. we had big plans for her senior session and i would give almost anything to be able to do that session for her this summer!
this past may, one of my clients, lauren, messaged me about an idea she wanted to run by me. she’s a teacher at the monroe county intermediate school district and thought it would be awesome to be able to provide her beautiful students with senior portraits.
i fell in love with lauren’s idea right away! these kids miss out on so many high school activities and this was one part of being a senior that we felt they shouldn’t have to skip. i knew this was something anne-marie would be a part of if she could. i also knew it was the perfect way to start this tough senior season. so, we put the plan into action. four seniors from monroe high school that regularly spend time with the teens at the isd (they call this the “unity project”) joined along. we used my studio and this great group of kids were spoiled for a few hours: hair, make-up, yummy food, and of course senior pictures! the rain detoured our original destination for the shoot, but lucky for us, downtown monroe worked perfectly!
